Hi Falcons!
Time is flying by. Please be sure to check in with your teachers and catch up on any missing work before the end of the semester.

The presentation will review topics such as finding 'best fit' opportunities, starting the college search, the college application process, scholarship options, financial aid, and steps to take over the summer so that the fall application process feels manageable. We love meeting with our Juniors to provide a soft welcome to their senior year! Check out the WHS Senior Handbook, which is a guide to help you through your senior year. In this guide, you can find everything you need to know about the college application process (what specific steps are needed for WHS students), finding your best college fit, financial aid, important dates and deadlines, and more!
Seniors: Graduation is right around the corner. You’ve got this - finish strong!!
- Senior Award night is June 6th. More info to follow.
- Be sure to check out the scholarship page: https://woodinville.nsd.org/counseling/college-information for local and national scholarship opportunities. If you have any questions, please contact your school counselor.

Juniors, spring is a great time to start planning for life after high school. While we don't expect you to have your plans set in stone, we do encourage you to start thinking about what your path might look like after graduation.
- Check out our website for college planning resources.
- Log into your Naviance account to utilize the Super-Match College Search engine to research colleges.
- Check out some college campuses (in person or virtually: https://campustours.com/)
- Use Naviance to organize colleges you're interested in using the "Colleges I am Thinking About" tool.
- Research college admission requirements, for example: will you need to ask a teacher to write a letter of recommendation for you?
- While some colleges are waiving the testing expectation for admission, you still may want to sign up to take the ACT or SAT.
- Counselors are looking forward to collaborating more with you around the college admission process this spring, but do not hesitate to reach out with any questions in the meantime!
|
We hope all our Falcon students and their families had a restful and enjoyable spring break! Thank you for the continued opportunity to work with you — we’re looking forward to an amazing rest of the school year!

- Other services such as health insurance.
- Contact Nurse Christie Callahan or Jennifer Gardner for more information.

While we know regular attendance is one of the most powerful ways to prepare your student for success, we also know that sometimes students must miss school for a variety of reasons. Next time that happens for your family, let our attendance office know through ParentVUE:
2. Click the “Report Absence” button next to the name of your absent student
3. Fill in the fields with the date(s) of the absence and provide an explanation
- For example, describe if it is a full-day absence or if leaving early or arriving late, provide a specific time
4. Click to submit, automatically notifying the school of the absence
You can support your student and our attendance office in these changes by using ParentVUE to make attendance notifications as early as possible.
*Need to Set Up ParentVUE?
|
To help parents get the most out of school, you want day-to-day insight into the academic experience. With the Synergy ParentVUE web portal, parents and guardians can access near real-time information on attendance, class schedules, report cards, course history, graduation status and more.
ParentVUE allows parents to access their:
- Attendance
- Class Schedules
- Course History
- Graduation Status
- Mid-term/Quarter and Final/Semester Grades
- School Information
- Demographic Information
- Health Check
A single username and password allows parents to access information for all of their children, regardless of the grade level or school of attendance. Each parent has an individual account that covers all children. If you have never used ParentVUE, you will need to request an activation key from your school. If you have accessed ParentVUE in the past or enrolled online, please click the "Forgot Password" link on the ParentVUE login page.
Further instructions for setting up your account can be found here.

Last week, the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction informed Northshore that the requested waiver for two inclement weather days was approved.
-
Northshore's updated last day of school for K-11th grade students is Friday, June 20, which will be a partial day. (WHS will operate on Last Student Day Schedule #28.)
- Tuesday, June 17 and Wednesday, June 18 will be full days of school.
- As a reminder, June 19 is a holiday (Juneteenth), and schools are closed.
Because Northshore schools were closed for weather-related issues for a number of days this winter, we have not met our state-required instructional hours. This means that instructional hours will need to be made up on two Wednesdays that were previously scheduled to be Early Release Wednesdays: April 30 and May 7. These two days – April 30 and May 7 – are now full days of school.
Revised one-page family calendars are posted to the district website. These updated calendars are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, Hindi, Chinese - simplified, and Chinese - traditional.

Northshore School District
May 5, 2025
Dear Northshore Families and Staff:
We recognize that summer can be a challenging time for our families who need additional support for their Northshore students. Our community has come together to support Northshore students with two important programs: Community-Supported Summer Food Program and Northshore Schools Foundation’s Backpacks for Kids.
Participate in the Programs
In response, multiple community organizations and volunteers have come together to ensure that no Northshore student goes hungry during the summer months and everyone who needs a new backpack to start the 2025-26 school year gets one. For the food program, non-perishable items will be delivered to the homes of families that enroll in the community-supported program every two weeks. For Backpacks for Kids, the backpacks and supplies will be distributed to families through their student’s school in late summer.
If you are interested in receiving meal support or a backpack and school supplies, please enroll by completing this form.
Your submission is confidential and will only be shared with Northshore staff that are coordinating the program, district-approved volunteers supporting the food distribution, and the Northshore Schools Foundation. The food program will include deliveries from late June through August.

The beginning of a new year provides a good opportunity to remind students and families of our commitment to student, family, and staff safety, as well as avenues available if you or your student has concerns you wish to share with us. Our school works closely in collaboration with law enforcement, District Safety and Security, and District administrators to ensure your concerns are taken seriously and are addressed promptly. We must be vigilant in the protection of our school community, and we value and appreciate our partnership with you. We can't do it alone.
If you or your student sees or hears something concerning, please say something. If at any time you or your student believes you have knowledge of any situation where danger is imminent, dial 911 immediately. And please continue to encourage your student to share any concerns with a trusted staff member. If they aren’t comfortable sharing directly with staff, concerns can always be anonymously submitted using our Safe Schools Alert System:

As graduation approaches, a meeting was hosted with the seniors during 4th period on Friday, May 2, which helped seniors focus on responsible decision-making, celebrating safely, and reflecting on how they hope to finish high school. A key part of this programming was addressing the real and often tragic consequences of driving under the influence — especially during graduation season. We want every student to enjoy this milestone without risking their future or the lives of others. This session challenged students to think critically about their choices and empower them to make decisions that keep themselves and their peers safe.

The Northshore School District provides each student with a district-issued technology device. When students/families assume responsibility for a district-issued device, they sign forms agreeing to accept financial responsibility for any device damage or loss. We know accidents and loss can happen. The Student Device Protection Plan provides NSD families an optional path to mitigate the financial liability of using a district device.
PARTICIPATION COST: The standard payment to enroll in the NSD Student Device Protection Plan is $25 per year; free for students who have qualified for free or reduced-price meals and who have provided consent to share their status for fee waivers. No refunds will be given once enrolled in this program.
COVERAGE AND BENEFIT: This program covers the device (Chromebook, Macbook, or iPad) loaned to your student against accidental damage for the school year. This program does NOT cover damage resulting from misuse or neglectful loss of the device. We expect all students to properly use their device and to secure it when it is not being used. If the device is used improperly or is not secured while the student is not using it, families will be expected to pay the full cost of replacement or repair.

Last week was the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) State Conference in Bellevue. Our 54 WHS students competed in multiple events against the top competitors from each region in the State and Woodinville did great!! Ten of these students left with me in the middle of the conference to meet up with DECA Nationals- as they dual-qualified in both organizations. They've worked hard over the year to get here and there's lots to celebrate!
We had 19 students placed in the top 4 in 27 events, which directly qualified them to move on to Nationals. Some in multiple events.

Last weekend, 162 students from the Music Department traveled to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho to participate in the Music in the Parks festival. Every ensemble in our program took part in the competition, including String Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Choir, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and both Jazz Bands.
It is with immense pride and joy that I announce Woodinville swept the competition. Every group earned first place in their respective categories — with the exception of Jazz Band 2, which took second place... to our other Jazz Band 1!
The trip was a resounding success in every way. Beyond the trophies, our students brought exceptional energy, teamwork, and a genuine love for music that resonated throughout the festival. Their performances were a direct reflection of the months of practice, countless rehearsals, and the passion they bring to our music program every single day.
The recognition they received is more than just a set of awards, it's a testament to the kind of student leaders, artists, and community members we are cultivating here at Woodinville. This achievement belongs to them, but it also reflects the ongoing support they receive from our entire school staff and administration. Thank you for continuing to champion the arts in our school.
Please join me in congratulating these students on a job well done. They have truly made Woodinville proud!
