Bus Passes

Obtaining a pass to ride a bus other than the one you have been assigned requires a bus pass. Until the transportation dept. determines their loads and makes any needed adjustments, they will not permit us to issue any bus passes. Typically, we are given the OK to issue passes on a limited basis starting in mid to late October. Contact the Transportation Department for more information at 425/408-7900.

From the Nurse

Here are a couple of upcoming calendar events to be aware of for students at TMS:

  • VISION AND HEARING SCREENING AT Timbercrest September 24th:

Each year in Northshore schools, students in grades Kindergarten, 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 receive hearing and vision screenings. We are currently scheduled for 7th grader vision and hearing screenings on Wednesday,  September 24, 2025. If you would like to exempt your child from either of these health screenings, please contact the school nurse.

These are basic screenings and are designed to identify students who may require further testing. They are not intended to replace regular exams by qualified health care providers. A student who does not pass any screening will be rechecked in a few weeks, and you will be notified only if there are concerns after the second screening.
Vision screening uses the PlusOptix. The PlusOptix is an auto-refractor that takes a measurement of the refraction of the eyes. The results is a baseline refraction measurement. The illumination technique used by Plusoptix, is totally harmless to the child's eyes. If your child wears glasses or contact lenses for distance or near vision, please be sure they have them on the screening day.

If your child has a hearing loss and is being followed by a healthcare provider or specialist and you do not wish for them to participate in the screening, please let the school nurse know.

Parent Volunteers for screening day:
As in past years, we do rely on the assistance of parent volunteers to work with our screening team. There are a variety of important jobs that parents do, including assisting the team with the screenings, record keeping and “crowd control”. We screen 7th grade students in the library from 8:00 am to 1:05 pm. Contact the school nurse at cthompson@nsd.org or 425-408-6906 if you are interested in helping out that day. Thank you!

  • HEALTHY YOUTH SURVEY 2025 Administration for 6th and 8th grades:

Our school is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey during fall 2025. The survey will be given to students in Grades 6 AND 8, (10 and 12 in large districts and students in Grades 6 through 12 in small school districts). The Healthy Youth Survey includes questions related to physical activity, unintentional and intentional injury, substance use, interpersonal relationships, school experiences, risk and protective factors, and access to school-based services. Survey results are used by schools, communities, and State agencies to plan programs to support our youth and reduce their risks. Participation in the survey is voluntary and steps are taken to ensure student privacy and anonymity. There are no names or codes used to link a survey back to a student. Youth taking the survey can skip questions or stop taking the survey at any time. The survey is administered in-person as an electronic survey.

TMS will give the survey to 6th and 8th graders on October 24, 2025.

Please read the Information for Parents/Guardians and Youth Letter linked here for more information about the Healthy Youth Survey. Contact the school nurse for additional questions. More communication about this survey will be coming.
