Since 2024, state law requires that school districts release the directory information of high school students and their parents/guardians directly to OSPI, which will disburse the info to participating colleges/universities in Washington. Parents/guardians must have the ability to request their directory information be withheld. Please review this guidance for high schools that explains the mandate and provides template messaging. The District will input parent responses into Synergy, but questions from families may come to the school. The District will communicate this requirement to families beginning September 15.

In our continued commitment to our students’ college readiness and our ongoing improvement efforts, the annual PSAT/NMSQT exam will be administered to all juniors at WHS on Tuesday, October 7th during the school day with results being available in mid-December. The PSAT measures critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills that are important for success in college and in other post-secondary pursuits and is the qualifying test juniors must take to enter the National Merit Scholarship Corporation scholarship program. The exam will be administered on-site during the course of the school day.
Registration is not required for juniors. The exam fee is $20.00 and has been populated to all junior accounts and is due September 12.

Hello Falcons!
Counselors have shifted gears from schedule changes and are now looking forward to working closely with our seniors as they prepare for life after graduation. The schedule change window has closed, and student schedules are now set for the semester.
As the school year gets underway—with classes, clubs, sports, and other activities—many students are beginning to settle into routines and set priorities. This is a great time to check in with your student about how things are going: their classes, homework, and overall start to the year.
We encourage you to regularly sit down with your student, have them open their StudentVUE account, review their grades together, and set goals for the weeks ahead.
Supporting Your Student
If your student needs extra support, here are some ways you can help guide them:
- Encourage them to ask for help. A quick conversation after class or scheduling time with a teacher can go a long way.
- Help them draft an email. Writing to a teacher with questions or to request a meeting can be easier with a little help getting started.
- Suggest they meet with their counselor. Counselors can help students develop strategies for staying on track and effectively communicating with teachers.
For Seniors: We're Here for You!
College application season can feel overwhelming—but you’re not in it alone. We're here to support you every step of the way.
This fall, join us for College Apps & Snacks—a relaxed, drop-in space where you can work on your applications and essays, ask counselors questions, and enjoy some dorm-style snacks while you’re at it.
For more details, check out the info at this link.
More College application resources:
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( FAFSA) is scheduled to open in October. All students applying to college will need to complete the FAFSA for the 2025-2026 school year. Check out the WHS Common Application Tip Sheet for more helpful tips and information.
WHS Counseling Website
The WHS Counseling website has a plethora of resources ranging from College and Career Readiness links and videos, and High School and Beyond details, and Mental Health resources! Check it out: https://woodinville.nsd.org/counseling
We’re thrilled to have students back on campus and have especially enjoyed connecting with underclassmen who are new to the building. We hope your student is off to a great start—and please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything we can do to support them.

One of the more important opportunities available this fall is the college admissions representative visits. College admissions reps from campuses across the state and country are scheduled to visit Woodinville HS to meet with interested students. We have a huge list of colleges already on the schedule and they are very excited to meet you.
This is one of the few opportunities available to meet the person who may be reading your college application, ask questions about the particular campus, and gather helpful information to use during your college research and the admission/application process.
To see an updated list of upcoming college visits, please look at the right hand side of this webpage or go into Naviance under Colleges, College Visits!

The 2025-26 WHS grading policy is returning to the pre-COVID 100-point scale without a grading floor. We remain committed to teaching our students how to develop responsibility and accountability and furthering the education of every student.
|
All students must have a WHS ID card picture taken. The WHS photo ID card is free of charge. Students must carry photo ID at school and at extra-curricular activities at all times.
Retake day is Thursday, October 16 during both lunches in the Gym/Theatre Foyer.
All photo packages will be mailed home.
Picture packages may be ordered online at dorianstudio.com and searching for Woodinville High School.
Lost Cards
If a student loses an ID/ASB card, check at the Main Office as often they are turned in. If the card cannot be found, lost ID/ASB cards can be replaced for $5.00 at the Cashier's Office. ASB membership can be purchased for $70.
Misprinted Cards
If for some reason a student's ID card is missing the Woodinville logo, has a wrong student number, name or wrong image, please stop by the Cashier's Office, as well, for a reprint free of charge.

If you qualify for Free or Reduced Meals you may also qualify for:
-
School fee waivers (a fee waiver consent form must be completed) in addition to the Free and Reduced application.

The Northshore School District provides each student with a district-issued technology device. When students/families assume responsibility for a district-issued device, they sign forms agreeing to accept financial responsibility for any device damage or loss. We know accidents and loss can happen. The Student Device Protection Plan provides NSD families an optional path to mitigate the financial liability of using a district device.
PARTICIPATION COST: The standard payment to enroll in the NSD Student Device Protection Plan is $25 per year; free for students who have qualified for free or reduced-price meals and who have provided consent to share their status for fee waivers. No refunds will be given once enrolled in this program.
COVERAGE AND BENEFIT: This program covers the device (Chromebook, Macbook, or iPad) loaned to your student against accidental damage for the school year. This program does NOT cover damage resulting from misuse or neglectful loss of the device. We expect all students to properly use their device and to secure it when it is not being used. If the device is used improperly or is not secured while the student is not using it, families will be expected to pay the full cost of replacement or repair.

First semester class fees populated in student TouchBase accounts on Wednesday, September 17 and are due by Friday, September 26. See the TouchBase information below for payment methods.
TOUCHBASE: Access to Make Online Payments, View Account Balance & Payment History
TouchBase is a web-based application that allows parents/guardians with the ability to make payments online and view their student’s account balance and payment history. Although cash, checks, and debt/credit cards are accepted at the Cashier’s Office and Main Office at WHS, making payments online through TouchBase is a constant 24/7 method of payment available for our families.
The link to make online payments at TouchBase can be found on the WHS homepage at woodinville.nsd.org under “Resources>Payments/TouchBase”. Like ParentVUE, where parents/guardians check student grades, usernames and passwords for Leota Middle School and Timbercrest Middle School students remain the same and carry forward to WHS and if a parent/guardian has more than one student, the TouchBase login information will provide access to all of their students’ accounts.
Need a TouchBase username & password?
Parents/Guardians in need of their assigned TouchBase username and password should come to the WHS Attendance Office or email whsattendance at nsd.org. We are unable to provide the information over the phone.

In line with NSD Board Policy and Procedure 3245, Woodinville High School will be implementing a limited student device policy during the school day for the 25-26 school year. If students choose to bring their devices to school, students will be expected to store their cell phones upon entering their classrooms in a designated place such as a hanging pocket holder or phone box during class time. This will be determined by the teacher, but all classrooms will have a designated storage space. Students will not be allowed to store their phones in their backpacks or elsewhere on their person. Students will also leave their phones in the classroom if they go to the restroom or take a hall pass elsewhere.
Mobile devices other than cell phones (smart watches, portable gaming devices, etc.) should be in airplane mode or off during instructional time. Teachers may require students to power off or store away any of these additional devices at any time (such as storing smart watches during assessments, for example). Ear buds should be put away and not worn at any time during instruction.
Per the policy, students will also be required to use their district-issued chromebooks for instructional purposes.
During passing periods, lunch, options, before and after school, students may use their devices as long as they are using them within the bounds of the NSD code of conduct.
Thank you for supporting all of our Falcons to be fully focused and engaged in their learning.

|
As we start the 2025-2026 school year please note that in order to use the elevator, students are required to check out an elevator pass in the Main Office with Mrs. Benedict.
The ONLY students who should be using the elevator are students with medical conditions. If a student is seen using the elevator without a pass that has been checked out, they will receive progressive discipline.
|
|
We are not able to provide bus passes at this time. Load counts on buses can not be assessed until all eligible riders have had the opportunity to ride their bus. Student enrollment has increased which puts school buses at or close to capacity. Therefore, Bus Passes will not be approved for the first month and a half of school until we are able to properly assess available seats.
|
|
NSD REQUIRED FORMS
The forms must be signed off prior to receiving access to ParentVUE/StudentVUE where schedules, grades, attendance, etc. are located.
|
Beginning Monday, September 15, students must have a valid WHS 2025-2026 parking hanger in their car to park on the WHS campus. Students are strongly encouraged to ride the school bus or carpool for space and environmental reasons.
Parking hanger applications for the 2025-2026 school year were accepted at the end of last school year. Payment for students pre-approved to purchase a WHS parking pass can be made online through TouchBase. All fines must be paid before a parking hanger can be issued. Students who pay online should bring in their receipt of payment when picking up their parking hanger from the campus supservisor. Parking is limited and will close once all available hangers have been issued. Please contact Mr. Dillman regarding parking availability if an application was not made at the end of last school year.
Students who do not have a parking hanger on September 15 must park on the street until it is purchased. The cost of parking hangers is $50 per year/$20 per seasonal sport/activity. The purchase of a parking hanger does not guarantee students a parking space every day. All parking is on a first-come, first-served basis in designated student parking areas. Parking on the WHS campus is limited. Please see the priority parking plan below.
The parking priority plan is as follows:
- Seniors with WANIC/Health Science/Running Start class where there is no district shuttle offered.
- Juniors with WANIC/Health Science/Running Start class where there is no district shuttle offered.
- Seniors who participate in after school sanctioned sports and pre-approved after school activities.
- Juniors who participate in after school sanctioned sports and pre-approved after school activities.
- Seniors who have waivers or work after school.
- Remaining seniors in the lottery.
If you have questions, contact Campus Supervisor Alan Dillman at adillman@nsd.org.

A reminder that students are not to be hanging out in cars or in the parking lots during options or lunch. Students were reminded of this during Falcon Days, is not a new policy, but one that we are returning to reinforcing this year for safety and supervision reasons both for students individually and for all WHS students. We will continue to remind students of this the first two days of school, but expect all students are aware of and following this policy after that.
|
Provided size and other requirements are met, seniors can submit a photograph for the yearbook from whichever professional photographer a family chooses; OR a photograph taken by an amateur; OR seniors can choose to have the free Dorian photo (taken for their required ID card during Falcon Days or on make-up day September 10) published in the yearbook. Learn more about specific requirements on the Yearbook website at https://woodinville.nsd.org/activities/yearbook-2025-26
Class of 2026 Yearbook Questions
Should you have any questions, please email Ms. Alder at salder@nsd.org.
*Details regarding the upload of senior yearbook photos will follow after school starts, well before the October 16 deadline. Once the information becomes available, most professional photographers can upload the image for the senior or can provide the senior with a .jpeg image digitally for the senior to upload themselves.

Attendance Procedures at WHS
Students are expected to attend all assigned classes each day in person. It is important that you email the attendance office whenever your student will be absent from school. The attendance phone line is monitored and messages are checked regularly. However, due to the busy nature of the attendance office, email is preferred and will be processed faster than a voicemail. You can report your students' absences by:
-
ParentVUE: Submitting attendance requests through ParentVue is the FASTEST way for the Attendance Office to see and process requests, you may only request full day absences NOT Late arrivals or Early dismissals.
- By sending an email from the parent's/guardian's email account to the whsattendance@nsd.org
- By a phone call to the Attendance Office 425-408-7410 (voicemail available 24 hours a day)
- By provide a written note signed by a parent/guardian for student to bring to the attendance office.
If your student is not feeling well during class time, they are to go directly to the nurse's office and can be excused directly through the nurse.
Prearranged Absences
When known in advance that a student will be absent for 5 or more days, the absence should be prearranged. Parents and guardians are asked to keep in mind that an absence from school, even though work is made up, is not advisable unless absolutely necessary and may result in a lowered grade. Instruction may not be repeated and could adversely affect a student's final grade. The parents or guardians need to fill out the Prearrange absences form in 2 weeks advance of the absence and turn in to the Attendance Office.
Student IDs Required for Late Arrivals
Students arriving late MUST scan their free WHS student ID cards or have their StudentVUE App open at the Attendance Office to receive their late arrival pass. The Attendance Office will have an iPad where students will scan their WHS student ID cards to receive their printed pass to take to class with them.
If your student does not have their WHS student ID card or a phone to login to their StudentVUE account, they will have the ability to login to StudentVUE on the iPad at the Attendance Office.
Thank you for reminding your student to come prepared and ready to show their WHS student ID card when arriving late to school. It helps keep things moving quickly.

|
How to Excuse an Absence
Because of the importance of student attendance, Woodinville High School will send out two attendance notifications each day, the morning notification is based on attendance data that is pulled soon after school starts, at the high school level it takes the full day to process attendance requests for 1600+ students as a result, many parents are sent morning notifications for absences they have already requested to be excused, if you have already submitted an attendance request please disregard the morning notification. Due to the number of attendance requests received each day, PLEASE SUBMIT ONLY ONE REQUEST PER ABSENCE. If your student is going to be absent, please email to attendance office prior to the absence or no later than 48 hours after the absence occurs.
Locker Assignments
Students who fully intend to use a locker may sign up for one on a first-come, first-served basis at Falcon Days or during the first few weeks of school. Due to the limited number of lockers, students must share a locker with at least one, but no more than two, other students.
Locker assignments are coordinated through the Attendance Office. Contact Julie Leong at whsattendance@nsd.org if you should have any questions.
