much ado about nothing

"Much Ado About Nothing", WHS Theatre, 10/23-10/25. 7:00p & 10/25 Matinee, 2:00p

WHS Theatre Fall Play Much Ado About Nothing Tickets are now available online or in the WHS Office.

The Woodinville High School Theatre Company (WHSTC) is diving back into the world of Shakespeare, offering a modern twist on the classic Shakespearean comedy Much Ado About Nothing. Our production brings Shakespeare’s quintessential battle of wits into the present day, set in the backyard of an LA recording producer’s mansion, complete with an outdoor recording studio and live music. Much Ado About Nothing is a wonderful, joyful, and funny play that is accessible to all audiences; however, it also addresses larger issues involved in navigating relationships, trusting our partners, and doing the right thing, making the play highly relevant to contemporary audiences.

Performances are 10/23-10/25 @ 7:00p plus a matinee on 10/25 at 2:00p. Tickets are $10 w/ASB or $15 for General Admission and are available online at https://gofan.co/app/school/WA23370 or at the WHS cashier’s window. For more info, please go to www.whstc.org

halloween costume guidelines

Halloween Costume Guidelines, Fri, October 31

Costumes are allowed for the school day and at extra-curricular activities within common sense guidelines on Friday, October 31. We want to have fun, but not at anyone else's expense

Some friendly reminders and guidelines about acceptable clothing that day and, really, any day:
  • Cultures are not costumes - be sensitive to our many diverse groups
  • Nurture creativity, inclusivity, and respect
  • Halloween costumes must not hurt or make fun of other people (in any way)
  • Costumes must follow the dress code in the Student Handbook
  • Students must be totally identifiable at all times (this includes face paint)
  • Appropriate masks for Covid are allowed
  • Halloween costume masks or other face coverings not allowed
  • Costumes and/or accessories are great so long as they: a) don’t portray or perpetuate stereotypes or denigrate cultures or genders, b) are not distracting to self or others, and c) do not include any weapons (or items that appear to be weapons) or portray images of violence

Have an enjoyable, fun, and safe Halloween!

AP Testing Information

2025-26 Advanced Placement Testing Payment and Registration Information

Advanced Placement Exam Registration & Payment is a two-step process (Both parts must be completed for each AP exam to be registered, ordered, and paid for). The deadline for registration and payment is November 14, 2025.

STEP 1: Students login or create a College Board account via myap.collegeboard.org using their NSD email address and enter the “join code” given by their AP teacher to join the class section.

STEP 2: Students PAY for their AP exam fees via www.TotalRegistration.net/AP/481598. (The College Board does not accept payment when registering for an AP exam so we have to use a second party to accept and track exam payment.) AP exams are $108.00 per exam.

Please note: By completing Step 1, students are automatically registered for the exam through College Board. If a student does not want to take the exam, they must email Andrea Baleva, abaleva@nsd.org, prior to November 14 to cancel.

IMPORTANT DEADLINES AND INFORMATION

AP Registration and Payment Deadline: November 14, 2025

Late registration fee mandated by College Board: Students may register for an AP exam AFTER November 14th, 2025 and up until March 6, 2026, but will have to pay an additional $40 per exam late order fee

Any students who qualify for Free & Reduced Lunch are eligible for a fee waiver and will not have to pay for an AP exam. Contact your counselor with any questions.

Students do not need to be enrolled in an AP course to take the AP exam. If you want to take an AP exam and are not enrolled in the AP course, you will still need a join code to register and pay for the exam. Please contact Andrea Baleva, abaleva@nsd.org, to get a join code issued.

ATTEND A COLLEGE VISIT at WHS!

One of the more important opportunities available this fall is the college admissions representative visits. College admissions reps from campuses across the state and country are scheduled to visit Woodinville HS to meet with interested students. We have a huge list of colleges already on the schedule and they are very excited to meet you.

This is one of the few opportunities available to meet the person who may be reading your college application, ask questions about the particular campus, and gather helpful information to use during your college research and the admission/application process.

To see an updated list of upcoming college visits, please look at the right hand side of this webpage!

World Language Competency Testing

Payment & Registration window open thru November 7

Dear Woodinville High School Students and Families,

The Northshore School District offers students the opportunity to earn high school credit in a World Language by demonstrating proficiency through the World Language Competency Test (WLCT). Students who demonstrate a high level of proficiency may also qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy on their high school diploma.

The WLCT consists of two parts: a written test and a spoken test. All students who register will first take the written test. If you score high enough on the written test, we will schedule you to move on to the spoken (verbal) test. At that point, you will be able to register and pay for the second test.

The cost for the written test is $80. If you qualify for the speaking test, there is an additional $80 fee. Both fees are paid through TouchBase. Fees will automatically waive for students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals and who have provided consent to share their status for fee waivers, but they must still complete all registration steps, including initiating payment either through the bookkeeper or in TouchBase.

Please note that there will be only one test date for the written test at each school. If you do not show up for your scheduled test, your fee will be forfeited. If you are ill or have a scheduling conflict, you must notify the test coordinator within 48 hours of your scheduled test date in order to be eligible for a refund.

The 2025–26 World Language Competency Testing is being offered at WHS on December 2nd

To register for the WLCT please complete the following steps in order:
  1. Pay the $80 Written Test fee through TouchBase or in-person through the cashier's office. You will need your receipt number to complete step #2.
  2. Complete the registration form (linked below) no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, November 7, 2025World Language Test Registration Form

Students who register but do not submit payment by 5:00 PM on November 7, will not be eligible to take the exam.

All of this information can be found on the NSD World Language Competency Test website. It's also easy to find the WLCT website from the district main page. Click In Our Schools / Assessment / World Language Competency Test or use the shortcut URL www.nsd.org/wlct.

Reduced or Waived Fees 2025-26 Don't forget... families must re-apply every year!

Parents and guardians whose income falls within specified guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture should apply for free or reduced-price meals for their students. Applications will be available August 1st and are due by October 14th to avoid an interruption in benefits (only one application is required per family), but families can apply at any time during the year – throughout the year.

If you qualify for Free or Reduced Meals you may also qualify for:
  • School fee waivers (a fee waiver consent form must be completed) in addition to the Free and Reduced application.
  • See below for more information or contact your school counselor (available after August 25).
  • Other services such as health insurance.
  • Contact Nurse Christie Callahan or Jennifer Gardner for more information.
The free and reduced online application only takes a few minutes and is the fastest, easiest way to get approved. Find the online application here: https://linqconnect.com/. Further information can be found on NSD’s Food Services website at https://www.nsd.org/schools/get-started/food-services/free-and-reduced-price-breakfast-lunch.

Student Device Protection Plan

The Northshore School District provides each student with a district-issued technology device. When students/families assume responsibility for a district-issued device, they sign forms agreeing to accept financial responsibility for any device damage or loss. We know accidents and loss can happen. The Student Device Protection Plan provides NSD families an optional path to mitigate the financial liability of using a district device.

PARTICIPATION COST: The standard payment to enroll in the NSD Student Device Protection Plan is $25 per year; free for students who have qualified for free or reduced-price meals and who have provided consent to share their status for fee waivers. No refunds will be given once enrolled in this program.

COVERAGE AND BENEFIT: This program covers the device (Chromebook, Macbook, or iPad) loaned to your student against accidental damage for the school year. This program does NOT cover damage resulting from misuse or neglectful loss of the device. We expect all students to properly use their device and to secure it when it is not being used. If the device is used improperly or is not secured while the student is not using it, families will be expected to pay the full cost of replacement or repair.
For more information, please view our website https://woodinville.nsd.org/resources/technology-support#fs-panel-119716.

Mobile Device Expectations

In line with NSD Board Policy and Procedure 3245, Woodinville High School will be implementing a limited student device policy during the school day for the 25-26 school year. If students choose to bring their devices to school, students will be expected to store their cell phones upon entering their classrooms in a designated place such as a hanging pocket holder or phone box during class time. This will be determined by the teacher, but all classrooms will have a designated storage space. Students will not be allowed to store their phones in their backpacks or elsewhere on their person. Students will also leave their phones in the classroom if they go to the restroom or take a hall pass elsewhere.

Mobile devices other than cell phones (smart watches, portable gaming devices, etc.) should be in airplane mode or off during instructional time. Teachers may require students to power off or store away any of these additional devices at any time (such as storing smart watches during assessments, for example). Ear buds should be put away and not worn at any time during instruction.

Per the policy, students will also be required to use their district-issued chromebooks for instructional purposes.

During passing periods, lunch, options, before and after school, students may use their devices as long as they are using them within the bounds of the NSD code of conduct.

Thank you for supporting all of our Falcons to be fully focused and engaged in their learning.
No Cell Phone Use

Passes Required for Elevator Use

As we start the 2025-2026 school year please note that in order to use the elevator, students are required to check out an elevator pass in the Main Office with Mrs. Benedict.

The ONLY students who should be using the elevator are students with medical conditions. If a student is seen using the elevator without a pass that has been checked out, they will receive progressive discipline.

Cars and Parking Lots During Options & Lunch

A reminder that students are not to be hanging out in cars or in the parking lots during options or lunch. Students were reminded of this during Falcon Days, is not a new policy, but one that we are returning to reinforcing this year for safety and supervision reasons both for students individually and for all WHS students. We will continue to remind students of this the first two days of school, but expect all students are aware of and following this policy after that.

🎨 Reflections 2025–2026: “I Belong”

Reflections is the National PTA arts recognition program that invites students to explore their creativity through visual arts, photography, music composition, dance choreography, literature, and film production. It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to express their thoughts, feelings, and ideas while building confidence and artistic literacy.

This year’s theme, “I Belong,” encourages students to share what belonging means to them. Each submission includes an original work of art and a short artist statement. Students may enter one or all categories—just one entry per category. Top entries from WHS in the 6 categories will move on to the Northshore Council PTA Showcase, with the chance to advance to Washington State and even National levels! Check out our website for previous art inspiration, winners and the link to submit!

WHS submission deadline: November 21, 2026, by noon.
