Upcoming Bell Schedule Changes Guidelines for Spirit Attire and Dress-Up Days Our first spirit week is going to take place October 27th - October 31st. I wanted to take a moment to share our guidelines for spirit attire and dress-up days to help ensure we nurture creativity, inclusivity, and respect while setting our students up for success. At TMS, we want students to have fun—but never at anyone else’s expense. Spirit attire and costumes should be sensitive to our diverse community and culturally appropriate. With that in mind, please review the following guidelines for acceptable attire: Cultures are not costumes. Costumes are only fun and respectful when they don’t hurt or mock others in any way. Student spirit wear and costumes must follow the school dress code as outlined in the Student Handbook. Students must always be fully identifiable—full-face paint is not allowed. Masks or other face coverings are not permitted. Costumes and accessories are encouraged as long as they: Do not portray or reinforce stereotypes or disrespect cultures or genders Are not distracting to the wearer or others Do not include weapons or items that resemble weapons If students are ever unsure whether their attire meets these guidelines, please encourage them to check with an administrator before wearing it to school. We’re excited to celebrate Spirit Week at TMS with your students. Go Wolves! Student Safety During School Commutes Timbercrest Families, Over the past month, I’ve connected with families from neighborhoods near Timbercrest along 215th Way NE, including those accessed via 222nd Way NE and 218th Ave NE. Following these conversations, I want to share some important reminders to help enhance safety for our students and community. As you can imagine, traffic on these roads increases significantly during the school year. Neighbors have reported speeding-related accidents, and icy conditions near Woodinville-Duvall Road can create hazardous travel. Each day, students from Timbercrest, Woodinville High School, and Eastridge walk and wait for buses along this route. To help keep our students safe, please: Follow posted speed limits (usually 25 mph). Be mindful of sidewalk lanes and pedestrian areas. Encourage students to walk facing traffic and wear bright, visible clothing. Remind students to speak up to a trusted adult or school official if they notice unsafe driving. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our community safe! Safety Reminders for Electric Bikes, Scooters, Skateboards, and Motorcycles The Northshore School District encourages people to enjoy safe and responsible ways of getting to and from school. To keep everyone safe, please follow these guidelines: Protect yourself. Helmets are required by law for all who ride bikes, scooters, or motorcycles. Your safety matters! Dismount when you arrive on campus. Lock up your ride. Use bike racks. Stay off tracks and fields. Bikes, scooters, skateboards, and other wheeled devices are not permitted on the track, field, or inside school buildings at any time. Charging. For safety reasons, charging e-bikes or e-scooters, or storing batteries, on school property is not allowed. The Difference Between E-Bikes and E-Motorcycles E-Motorcycles: Have no moving pedals; Are not street legal without lights, mirrors, turn signals, and more. Are illegal on sidewalks; must follow all vehicular traffic laws. Must be registered with the state (have license plates) and insured. Operated by licensed drivers only; Riders must wear helmets. E-Bikes: Have an electric motor that assists with pedaling or propels without pedaling. Riders must wear helmets. No driver’s license, registration or insurance required. Class 1: Pedal-assisted only. Max speed 20 mph. Class 2: Pedal-assisted and motor-propelled. Max speed 20 mph. Class 1 & 2 allowed on bike paths, bike lanes, sidewalks, and some trails Class 3: Pedal-assisted only. Max speed 28 mph. Not allowed on shared-use paths, sidewalks, or non-motorized trails. Riders must be 16+. Learn more about the rules and the state laws that govern us on the City of Bothell's website. 2nd Quarter Schedules New schedules for 6th graders showing their 2nd quarter classes will be handed out during Advisory on Monday, Nov 3rd. Students can also find their schedules on Student Vue. Important Attendance Information The Fall/Winter holiday season is quickly approaching!! If your student will miss any school days around the breaks, please be sure to notify the Attendance Office. You are required to submit a Pre-Arranged Absence Form for absences of 5 or more consecutive school days and submit it for approval at least 48 hours before the scheduled absence. Did you know there are many ways to report an absence, late arrival or early dismissal? Submit absence request using ParentVue Login to ParentVUE Click the “Report Absence” button next to the name of your absent student Fill in the fields with the date(s) of the absence and provide an explanation Click to submit, automatically notifying the school of the absence Email tmsattendance@nsd.org Leave a message by calling 425-408-6910 Send a note in with your student within 48 hours of the absence Please check your student’s attendance record to make sure the information is accurate. Contact Donna Wagner at dwagner@nsd.org or 425-408-6904 if you have any questions. Lost and Found We are seeing an increase in forgotten student belongings. Lunch boxes/bags, water bottles, clothing and shoes are quickly filling up our Lost & Found rack. We house our Lost & Found rack in the cafeteria so it’s easy for students to claim their belongings. When the amount of items overflow the cart, we go through each item and if the student’s name can be found, we send for the student and reunite them with their item. Please help your student claim their missing items before it’s too late. It is also VERY helpful to label property. Unclaimed items will be donated to Treads & Threads on Friday, October 31, 2025. I will be on campus Mondays and Tuesdays during the 2025–2026 school year. Since beginning here, I have truly enjoyed the warm welcome, the beautiful natural surroundings, the art, and the rich diversity that make our school so special. In collaboration with our amazing school counselors, I will be offering support groups (as needed), psychoeducation and educational opportunities, and individual sessions. Before services begin, I will be using our SB-BIRT tool to help identify and best meet student needs. Regarding referrals, this will go through your child's counselor. Throughout the day, students worked to: Strengthen their sense of leadership identity and understand their roles and responsibilities. Learn actionable steps to promote a safe, inclusive school culture and build community. Discover fresh ideas to enhance school climate through student-led projects and initiatives. Engage in hands-on sessions focused on team building, collaboration, school engagement, project planning, and goal setting. Share ideas interactively with peers from across the region to inspire and support each other. Counselor's Corner Hello Families, October is National Bullying Prevention Awareness Month During October, the Timbercrest Counseling Team is visiting classrooms to help build awareness and promote a positive, respectful school culture. Students will learn how to recognize and report bullying behaviors—and how to be upstanders who help create a safe and supportive environment for everyone. Below are some common examples of harassment, intimidation, and bullying (HIB) behaviors that can occur in middle school: Posting photos or comments on social media that make fun of others Spreading rumors about another student Sharing hurtful or embarrassing content online Repeating or spreading rumors after hearing them from someone else Teasing someone repeatedly and saying, “We’re just joking” or “It’s just for fun” Pointing out personal differences in a way that makes others feel “less than” Intentionally leaving someone out of invitations, plans, or group activities How We Can All Make a Difference: Be an upstander—refuse to participate in hurtful behaviors Understand the difference between normal conflict and bullying, and report concerns to a trusted adult Speak up when you see others being mistreated Practice acts of kindness and empathy Be inclusive—make sure everyone feels welcome and valued Together, we can make Timbercrest a place where every student feels respected, supported, and safe. From the Nurse HEALTHY YOUTH SURVEY 2025 Administration for 6th and 8th grades: Date/Time: Update Our school is participating in the Washington State Healthy Youth Survey during fall 2025. Youth taking the survey can skip questions or stop taking the survey at any time. The survey is administered in-person as an electronic survey.
