Bi Weekly Update
McCorkle BiWeekly Newsletter News to Use September 1, 2025 The first month of school is already done and in the books. We enjoyed your getting to know your children this week, seeing their talents and what to continue to support each one. We ended with a wonderful week with open house. It was a joy to see all the families to come out to participate in our annual Title 1 meeting, but more importantly, to the classrooms where teachers and students shared what they do in class. We enjoyed seeing students talk to parents about their culture projects. 1st though 8th grade began their iReady diagnostics and K-3 started DIBELs beginning of the year screener. We ended the week with Dippin Dots sponsored by PTSO in support of Mr. Peacock's ecology/gardening program. The brownie batter dippin dots still reigns supreme in my book. J.D. Groundsman Extradonaire Meet, J.D., McCorkle Academy's groundsman. He works everyday to keep our campus clean and our plants happy. There are over 25 outdoor trash cans and over 200 trees and shrubs to take care of. He picks up trash all over campus that is left on the ground. He comes in with a smile, can be counted on to get our campus ready each morning. He comes into work when most of us might not be rising at 5:30. We are grateful for the work he does and the support he gives to McCorkle Academy. Parents on Patrol Last year we began a pilot program for Parents on Patrol. Ms. Perez and Ms. Estavillo jumped right in. Our school community liaison, Ms. Corina Ochoa-Dominguez along with Mr. Ernie Sabori, our traffic and security guru spearheaded this fabulous program along with Art Olivas from School Safety. . Volunteers are trained in campus security with Mr. Ernie and School Safety Officer Art. Volunteers receive a vest, radio and Centigx badge. Whenever these incredible moms have time, they volunteer and support the security of our campus. We are grateful for their support. Join our Parents on Patrol Team Got spare time, then we need you! Join our Parents on Patrol team. All you have to do is go to the below link, fill out the volunteer form and put Mr. Ernie Sabori or Corina Ochoa-Dominguez as the supervisor. We will be setting up training sessions soon. It is never to late to volunteer. Will we see you? All you need to do is click on the word volunteers to get started.
