Safe Start for City of Lakes Waldorf School: Donate Now!
Dear Friends of City of Lakes Waldorf School,
We are excited to begin the 2020-21 school year on September 2 and to welcome students back to our campus for the first time since school buildings were closed last March. In order to return to school, we are making changes to our school campus, programs and schedule to promote health and safety for our students and staff. Toward that end -- we have launched the City of Lakes Waldorf School Safe Start Campaign which will fund the school’s strategies to mitigate against the spread of COVID-19 as children return to school.
Our preparations for the extraordinary school year ahead include the hiring of a COVID-19 Program Coordinator/School Nurse, expanded grades classrooms to allow for required physical distancing, significant measures to improve air flow and quality, and purchase of PPE and outdoor sinks. In addition, we will invest in structures to support outdoor learning and improve hygiene with hands-free soap and paper towel dispensers. None of these COVID-19 inspired improvements are a part of our normal operating budget but are necessary in the face of our return to school during a global pandemic.
Our Board of Trustees has generously initiated a challenge match raising $10,000 to offset the costs of these preparations and spark community engagement. We are asking for your support of the City of Lakes Waldorf School Safe Start Campaign. Your support will help our school maintain financial health in these unprecedented times and create the best start of school possible for our students, staff, and families. This school year promises new challenges and opportunities, unlike any other year we’ve experienced in our 32-year history. Through it all, we will create a year of inspired learning and growth and experience renewed strength within our extended community.
Thank you for all the ways you help make this happen. We look forward to seeing you and your children in a few weeks.
