Quick help with ParentSquare

This post was updated on July 27, 2026

Welcome! Having trouble signing in? We cover that below. Once you’re in, you can also visit our help articles for parents and students for more detailed help.

1. Help! I can’t log in!

If you can’t log in, try resetting your password. Click here to reset your password.

This link is also available anytime on the sign-in page — just look for “Forgot password.” Use the same email or phone number your school has on file. Not sure which one that is? Contact your school to check.

Email or phone number not recognized?

This means your school hasn’t added your contact info yet, or it doesn’t match what’s on file. Contact your school to fix this.

2. How do I choose a password?

Choosing a new password

Your new password needs to follow a few rules:

  • Use at least 8 characters.
  • Mix uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Don’t reuse a password you’ve used before.
  • Avoid easy-to-guess passwords such as “Password123!” or “reallylongpassword1”.

Getting an “Invalid Password” error?

This usually means one of two things:

  • The password isn’t safe. It’s shown up in a data breach before, so we can’t let you use it. Try a new password instead.
  • You’ve used this password before. Pick one you haven’t used on ParentSquare before.

Tip: A password manager can create and save a strong password for you.

3. How do I sign up for ParentSquare?

Your child’s school will most likely send you an invitation email or text to join ParentSquare. Just click the link to register your account. If your school already has your email or phone number on file, you can sign up without an invitation.

What to do:

  1. Find the email or text from your school and click the link to get started.
  2. Or, go to parentsquare.com/signin (or install the ParentSquare app) and follow the steps to register.
  3. Use Google sign-on, your email, or your phone number. Just make sure it matches what your school has on file.
  4. If your info isn’t recognized, contact your school to get it added. After your school updates it, it will show up in ParentSquare the next day, and you will be able to register your account.

Good to know:

Even before you register, you’ll get messages from your school. But you’ll need to register your account to reply to messages and to see private forms and documents about your child.

4. How do I confirm my contact details?

When you sign in, look for “Action Required: Confirm Your Account Information.” This shows up automatically if your info needs confirming.

  1. Confirm or correct your email and phone. If they’re right, confirm them — we’ll send a code (good for 10 minutes) for you to enter. If something’s wrong, choose “Edit,” fix it, and confirm the same way.
  2. Confirm your children. Select “Confirm” for each child listed.
  3. Confirm your name and school. Select “Yes, this is me.”

Not ready yet? Choose “Skip for now.” You’ll be asked again next time you sign in, and you’ll still get notifications in the meantime.

If you correct your email or phone, your school will update their records. The change may show in your account right away, or by the next day.

5. How do I change my contact details?

Did you get a new phone number or email? Here’s how to update it in ParentSquare.

Contact your school. They manage your contact info, so this is the best way to make sure it’s updated correctly. Click the question mark next to your name, then “Contact School.”

Or, suggest the change yourself (if your school allows it):

  1. Click your name, then “Manage Account,” then “Edit Account.”
  2. Enter your new info and confirm it.
  3. Your school will get your suggested change.

After your school updates their records, the change will show up in your ParentSquare account automatically.

6. How do I combine/merge accounts?

Combining accounts (for parents only)

If you have more than one ParentSquare account (for example, because your name, email, or phone number didn’t match), you can combine them into one.

What to do:

  1. Log in to your main ParentSquare account.
  2. Click your name in the upper right and select “Manage Account.”
  3. Click “Combine with another account.”
  4. If other accounts match your verified email or phone number, click “Combine Accounts.”
  5. If the account you want doesn’t show up, click “Combine Another Account” and sign in with that account.
  6. Choose the name you want to use, then click “Combine Accounts.”

Now you’ll see all your children in one account. You can log in using any of your email addresses or phone numbers.

Switching between accounts (for parents who are also staff)

You can’t combine a staff account with a parent account, but you can switch between them easily.

What to do:

  1. Log in to either your staff or parent account.
  2. Click your name in the top right to see your accounts.
  3. Under “Switch Account,” click “+Add another account.”
  4. Log in to your other account.
  5. Now you can switch anytime – just click your name and choose the account you want.

7. Why don’t I see all of my kids, classes, or groups?

If you’re missing a child, class, or school, it may be because:

  • Your contact info doesn’t match what your school has on file.
  • You have more than one ParentSquare account with different contact info.

What to do:

  • First, try confirming your account information (question #4 above).
  • Still missing something? Try combining your accounts (question #6 above).
  • If that doesn’t fix it, contact your school. Click the question mark icon in the top right corner, then select “Contact School.”

8. How do I update my language preference?

Want your messages in a different language? Or are they showing up in the wrong one? Here’s how to change it.

What to do:

  • On the web: Click your name, then “Manage Account,” then “Language Settings.”
  • On the mobile app: Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top left, then “Account,” then “Preferences,” then “Language.”
  • Select your preferred language and save.

9. How do I change or stop notifications?

You can choose how you’re notified about Posts, Direct Messages, and Alerts & Notices — separately for each school.

  • Posts: Choose “Instant” (get each post right away) or “Digest” (one summary each evening). Many families like Digest — it’s one email instead of many.
  • Direct Messages: Choose email, text, app, or any combination. If you turn on both app and text, we’ll try the app first and only send a text if the app notification doesn’t come through.
  • Alerts & Notices: Urgent alerts and attendance notices always come through, so you won’t miss anything important.

What to do:

  • On the web: Click your name, then “Manage Account,” then “Notification Settings.”
  • On the mobile app: Tap the menu icon (☰), then “Account,” then “Notifications.”

10. How do I unsubscribe from ParentSquare? I’m not a parent!

Sometimes people who aren’t parents get messages from a school by mistake. This usually happens when someone made a typo entering a phone number or email — and it happened to match yours.

What to do:

  • To stop texts: Reply STOP to the number that texted you.
  • To stop emails: Click “unsubscribe” at the bottom of the email.
  • To stop everything, including urgent alerts: Contact the school or district that’s messaging you, and ask them to remove your contact info. (Texting STOP or unsubscribing from email won’t stop urgent alerts — only the school can do that.)
