Updates to Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

During the past few years, we’ve grown not only in the numbers of schools and users we serve but also the services we provide. School is one big family and all users at school should be able to communicate under one platform. As we add more tools towards that goal, our terms and policies need to change to reflect these efforts.  We also strive to make our agreements and policies easier to understand.

Here is a summary of the more significant changes to our terms and policies. Please note that this is also just a summary of the changes. We encourage you to read the updated terms and policy in full — by using our services on or after November 20, 2017, you’ll be agreeing to these changes.  Our belief is that these changes clarify and simplify our terms and policies and generally improve your rights under our terms and policies.

Note: For purposes below the term “School” represents any School, District or Organization that has purchased ParentSquare.

1. ParentSquare is beginning to support student communication and Schools can choose to enable it within ParentSquare. As such, students will need to create a password to access ParentSquare. Students under 18 are required to read and agree to the terms with their parent/ adult guardian. We have added that ParentSquare complies with Children’s Online Privacy and Protection Act (COPPA). Pursuant to COPPA, ParentSquare relies on the School to obtain verifiable parental consent to provide our services to students under 13 years of age.

2. As we have added new features, we need to collect more information from the School for those features. Our Privacy Policy now describes all information that the School provides to us depending on what the School chooses to use.

3. Our users’ privacy is very important to us. Other than the Information we collect and the way we use it, we have also outlined what information, such as contact info and pictures, can other users see in ParentSquare.

4. We have made it clear that you own the material you post on ParentSquare. If we need to use your submission for publicity, we will need your permission in writing.

5. With the addition of Permission Slips in ParentSquare, we allow parents to provide an Electronic Signature. If your School chooses to use permission slips, we have added that by using the Electronic Signature function, you agree to transaction business electronically.

We hope you see value in these changes as we, together with your School, strive towards delivering an exceptional experience.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at support@parentsquare.com. Thank you for using ParentSquare.
