June Changelog: New Permissions Interface, Custom Roles, and More!

Changelog is a roundup of what we’ve released in the last month! Here are the features and functionality we added in June:

User Permissions Update

We’ve made significant improvements to the district role/permissions user interface, based on feedback from many of you! We’re moving to a more visual, flexible way to manage permissions.

  • Admin > User Permissions is a new option for handling permissions

  • VIP Staff/VIP Parent roles have gone away, but you now have the ability to create Custom Roles to match your specific needs

  • No one’s existing permissions have been altered by these changes!

The new permissions interface under Admin > User Permissions provides administrators two tabs where they can Assign, View or Remove user permissions or roles:

Custom Roles

The June updates allow admins to set up permission sets for additional roles (i.e. librarians, Assistant Superintendents) and easily apply them consistently across schools. You’ll be able to set up staff quickly with the new custom roles!

Admins can create the role, select permissions, and then assign members; or assign to members as they create the role.

Custom Roles you create will appear with an expandable view of associated permissions.

Standard Roles

Parentsquare still provides standard user Roles. To review standard roles, go to Admin > User Permissions > View/Remove tab, click on View Other Roles to see a list of standard roles and associated permissions:

Granular Permissions

Admins can also view and adjust granular permissions to enhance your user roles. View which users have various permissions by expanding the users next to each permission description.

From here, you can view and/or delete the member from the particular permission.

Add Staff or Admins

We made changes to the Admin > Users pathway. To add and invite staff members, visit the district Directory instead. From there, you can add District Staff or Admins and manage district staff permissions.
